As we enter the second half of September 2024, several states and territories have already finished distributing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP benefits). Each of them decides how to catalog and distribute their allocations based on local needs, the number of registered beneficiaries, and their structural capacities.
SNAP benefits are designed to help recipients make ends meet, and put nutritious, healthy meals on their tables. The benefits range from $291 for one person, to $1,751 for a household of 8 members. However, these amounts are valid until September 30, 2024, because from October 1 they will increase after the cost of living adjustment (COLA) is applied.
